The Gretsch Catalina line has 7-ply Maple Shells known for the enhanced low frequencies and wider tuning range making this shell construction ever popular with artists around the world.
The 7-ply gives a feel of confidence playing the kit as they feel solid, which at this price range is a bonus!
Closer To The Edge
As well as being 7-ply the bearing edges are the famous 30 degrees which Gretsch are famous for, this type of bearing edge allows for a lot more contact between the head and shell.
Giving you a lot more shell tone which you would certainly enjoy with the Maple, and makes it a lot easier to tune and get the full tone out of these shells.

The character is phat, punchy, rounder, and has a real focused resonance,

Snare drum wise the cross stick and rim shots are super defined, with a really nice smooth snare when it comes to ghost notes.
Sturdy Hardware
The Catalina has a low profile 'gas-cap' bass drum mount plate and an ultra-low GTS mounting system.
The very classy T-Wing screws and bolts are included on all fittings and the rubber isolated die-cast bass drum claws are excellent, they keep the bass drum hoop from getting scratched if they were to loosen.
The hoops are a hefty 2.5mm triple flange, aiding in seating the drum head correctly, resonance, and holding the head in tune as much as possible.
The finish on this kit is the ever-so-classy silver sparkle, this finish is a wrap and more than delivers under lights, daylight, office light, and in the dark!
You really can't go wrong with a silver sparkle!
